"I missed my Wednesday afternoons with Fred, it was wonderful to share these albeit brief times together. Fred had a great sense of humour, cheeky at times, but that went both ways. My thoughts are with Isabel and her wonderful family.
Nick"

"I met the Lathlean family through my high school friend Leisa, Fred's eldest daughter. I subsequently became friendly with the whole family. Fred and his wife Isabel seemed to have full hearts that could always find room for one more person and I was impressed when they fostered two children, squeezing them into their home, along with their four kids. Fred was an important figure in my life as I navigated my teens, when my own father was largely absent. I will remember Fred as a gentle man, with a deep smile, and a twinkle in his eye. My condolences to the family and to Isabel in particular."
